Schon seit seiner Kindheit ist der Schweizer Künstler Pierre-Alain Münger von der Verformung verschiedenster Gegenstände, vor allem Automobilen, fasziniert. Seine spezielle Vorliebe hat der Künstler inzwischen zum Beruf gemacht. Die Abdrucke an Stahlplatten durch den Anprall von Autos sind sein künstlerisches Produkt. Um diese Werke zu schaffen, werden im DTC Dynamic Test Center in Vauffelin Automobile gegen die Wand gefahren. Der letzte Abdruck eines Fahrzeugs – das sogenannte Face – kann so auf einer vor dem Crashblock aufgezogenen Platte verewigt werden.

An artistic perspective of a crash test
Even since his childhood, the Swiss artist Pierre-Alain Münger has been fascinated by the deformation of different kinds of objects, particularly cars. In the meantime, the artist has turned this special passion into an occupation. Imprints on steel plates caused by an impact with a car are his artistic product. To create these works, cars are driven against a wall at the DTC Dynamic Test Centre in Vauffelin. The final imprint of a car – the so-called ‘face’ – can therefore be immortalised on a steel sheet in front of the crash wall.
